But stuff like their carriers and basestars are low priority as long as you set up a defense against the munitions, once the supporting gunshps are down cylon fleets are pretty weak. This is why you'll sometimes see them come to almost complete standstills, or take more damage than usual they like drawing power away from engineering and navigation if they think they have a good shot angle on your ships. Also their "posture" in game is not like the slider you get on the colonial ships, when they boost a subsystem they have to take away from several others. What you'll notice though is that the raw killing power of cylon ships is pretty lacking they rely more heavily on raider swarms and missile tubes more than the guns mounted on most of their ships, along with numbers advantage. Their DRADIS is better, their tech is better, their FTL is faster and longer ranged, and where the colonials had to by-hand calculate their jumps (IDRIS system compromised), cylons could compute them at a moment's notice as long as the jump drive was spooled. Can Cylons FTL into a battle at any given moment? Feels like an AI cheat, feels dirty. They've learned my strategy? The next battle went very much the same way.
In the end I took my lumps, didn't lose a ship and defeated 11 starships in that battle. After destroying 3 more Nemisis class ships from long range and viper support, 2 more FTL'd in close to me and again fired guided missiles in the same turn. It was just a WTF? moment) I took them down quickly, with very little damage to my capital ships, I then focused back on the original combat fleet. Until 2 more Nemisis class ships FTL'd in close to me and fired guided missiles all in the same turn? ( I understand they were close and had ID'd my ships, no problem. It was working great even up against a larger force. In this particular scenario I started out matched 3 Adamants to seven Cylon ships (5 Nemisis class and 2 Talon class) This strategy can take a bit of game play time to come out unscathed. The cylon fleet kept increasing in size even this close to the start of the game. This strategy worked beautifully until about the 5th incursion. Not a scratch on my capital ships during battle and I could destroy the opposing force from a distance. With 3 Adamant class ships I move away from the DRADIS contacts until my vipers have identified them while my capital ships perform maneuvers to avoid torpedoes. In a new game, I started using a new strategy.
